Children Centres Campaign goes to Parliament
Children Centres Campaign goes to Parliament

Warwick and Leamington Labour Party are working across the community to save our Children Centres from being closed by Warwickshire County Council.

The Conservative run Warwickshire County Council’s have decided to close 2/3 of our Children’s Centres. They say there is no money, but they give £1.6bn for the DUP to prop up this sleaze-ridden, morally bankrupt and visionless Government. We are 5th wealthiest nation in the world, we must invest on our children.

This means that:

Only 14 centres will remain open as family hubs, serving 0-19 year olds instead of specialising in 0-5 as currently. 11 centres will definitely close, including Sydenham, and further 16 are at risk of closure if they don’t find private funding to continue, including Whitnash and Warwick. The Council has £10m usable reserves and it would cost about £1m to keep them open for a year.

This divisive Government has gone on too long. We need a County Council and a Government which values early years education. We took our campaign to stop the cuts to Shire Hall, where we read the testimony of many parents who depends on these centres.
